Being close to the coast, we have always had an affinity towards seafood, so when ITC Gardenia had invited us for the Karwar food fest at Cubbon Pavillion, we were thrilled as we anticipated some food seafood that would get us closer to home, at least from the culinary perspective!
Here’s what we loved the most from the fest:
1. Sungta Kalimeerya
Prawns marinated in black pepper, perfectly tossed in perfect spices and ofcourse doused with extra pepper, goes well along with Yerrape Anni (Black gram and rice dumplings)
2. Kombi Rassa
Chicken made in a gravy of coconut milk and vinegar, a true reflection of Karwar! Goes perfect along with Kalingana Polo (Dosa made from watermelon, no, we’re not kidding!)
An assortment of veggies, mixed with lentils and served dry, the dosa will go well with this too.
4. Bangdyache Tepla Ambat
Tender mackarels in a gravy of coconut and lentils, this is one unique dish if you love Bangdas!
Loved all across the coast, this preparation of Lentils along with a strong dose of ghee and hing(sometimes) is a dream come true along with rice!
The best dessert ever! Rice, jaggery and coconut steamed in turmeric leaves was the best way to end this one of a kind meal!
