The latest buzz in town is the Food Street at Forum Fiza Mall at the entrance, as soon as you near it, the aroma leaves you in a spell. There is a huge selection of dishes, but the must try items are as follows:

Warning: the below dishes are only for pure non vegetarians, vegetarians have a limited choice like Chaats and Veg Samosa’s. Sorry!

  1. Mutton Haleem – ₹ 120

Food Street Forum-7

The first counter to the left as you enter is by the legends, Royal Darbar. Their expertise in Muslim food is seen in their Haleem as it is so smooth, it will disappear before your you know and you will have another one.

Counter : Royal Darbar

  1. Mutton Sheekh Kabab – ₹ 150

Food Street Forum

Again at the Royal Darbar stall, this one reminded us of the time we ate at Mohammed Ali Road in Mumbai, succulent, well spiced and cooked to perfection are few words to describe its awesomeness.

Counter : Royal Darbar

  1. Al Faham – ₹ 175 (half)

Food Street Forum

Faham simply means coal in Arabic, this BBQ Chicken is one of a kind and the Goody’s Stall (Flavours of Arabia) serves it fresh, they are perhaps one of the most loved Al Faham makers in Mangalore.

Counter : Goody’s – Flavours of Arabia

  1. Mangalore Premium Biryani – ₹ 120

Food Street Forum

This one is a totally different style of biryani with a mangalorean kick but prepared in the true Dum style unlike others who mix the gravy and rice, this is cooked together. Try this at Biryani Tree just next to the Royal Darbar counter.

Counter : Biryani Tree

  1. Chatti Patthiri – ₹ 30

Food Street Forum

This was something definitely unique. Something like a puri stuffed with seasoned chicken ad deep fried. A typical Kerala style dish. Find this at the Snackies Stall.

Counter : Snackies

  1. Kathi Roll – ₹ 60

Food Street Forum

This one is available at the Bites counter, they serve a huge variety of Kathi Rolls, try any one and it will surely leave u wanting for more. Warning, it is pretty filling!

Counter : Bites Kati Zone

  1. Chicken/Mutton Samosa – ₹ 10/15

Food Street Forum

These are available at most stalls, but the ones at Royal Darbar are definitely a class apart. One can easily polish off 3-4 of them.

Counter : Royal Darbar

  1. Phirni – ₹ 20

Food Street Forum

This was our much awaited happy ending, the Phirni at Royal Darbar was undoubtedly the best Phirini we have ever had in Mangalore. Sink your teeth into one and as the owner rightfully told us

“ek baar khaoge toh khaate reh jaoge” (once you eat it, you can’t stop).

Counter : Royal Darbar

These were the top 8 dishes, the tent is on till 16th of July, another 10 days left so make the best use of it! The best part of it being that it is not heavy on the pocket.

Here’s wishing all our Muslim brethren a blessed Ramadan and Happy Eid in advance!
