Tres Magnifique: A magnificent French food festival!
This Thursday was tres magnifique in the true sense. Savouring every layer of fine French food while sitting in the historic and elegant Raj Pavilion hotel was no less than taking a quick trip to France! You see, you can’t move places but you can always experience it at home just by savouring their cuisine.
Raj Pavilion as taken the next step to bring home the pleasure of savouring international cuisines. The ‘Tres Magnifique’ is a French food festival running through till Dec 15, 2018. We got a chance to take part in Tres Magnifique and here is our review of the fine French food festival.
We started our fine dining experience by relishing every sip of the steamy and creamy ‘Vichyssoise’ a classic, French soup. The perfect blend of mellow potato, mildly pungent leek and a dash of almond butter ran down our throats like sweet silk, leaving behind the subtle but rich flavours of pepper and nutmeg.
There is nothing better on a chilly, damp day than a steaming bowl of potato leek soup; and conversely, few things are as delicious and refreshing on a hot, sweaty day than a bowl of ice cold vichyssoise
For appetizers, we tasted the bite-sized cute little Vol-Au-Vent Aux Champignons. The small pretty shells of puff pastry enclosed a surprisingly delightful mushroom filling. Every bite of the dish had aroma filling our mouths. The Vol-Au-Vent was served with Mesclun salad that added a tangy twist to the dish with the delicious mix of young sweet lettuces and tangy greens.
Next up, we tasted the perfectly cooked Coq Au Vin for the main course. The chicken was tender and delicately braised in red wine to make a perfect French stew dish. This classic Coq Au Vin was served with Fondant potatoes, slowly roasted in silky butter and healthy stock.
Vegetarian folk must try the Ratatoulie au legumes! A dish so well made a presented you’d want to take it home and frame it,Bliss!
To conclude the amazing French bonanza with a dessert, we ordered the heavenly Tarte Tatin Aux Pommes. This apple pie was hands down the most amazing apple dish we have tasted. The Tarte Tatin Aux Pommes had golden-brown chunks of caramelized apples melting in our mouth and tantalizing our taste buds long after we had our last bites. Moreover, the berry sauce added a mild but pleasant tanginess to this dessert. We surely applaud the chef for this masterpiece.
So, block a weekend or maybe steal one of the weekdays to visit the Raj Pavilion at ITC Windsor and treat yourself with flavoursome French dinner. The event is on till the 15th December 2018 and the buffet is priced at ₹1995 plus taxes.
