There are many breweries in town now, but very few of them(or I think none of them) serve only their brewed beer! Yes, Brewklyn is one of a kind brewery that serves you just their brewed beer. No other alcohol. And that’s saying something.
They have 2 floors, 1 covered and 1 rooftop which is also a smoking zone. The covered floor has a nice pool table by the bar. There are normally 6 brews and the day we went the special brew was Saison, and frankly one of the best too.
The 6 brews for the day were – Belgian Wit, German Lager, English Pale Ale, New England IPA, Dark Wheat Porter and finally the special Saison. We started off with trying the samplers. You know the brews are good when you can say something unique about each of them. The fruity flavour of the Al Capone, the coffee flavour of the Porter, the lightness of the Wit, the maltiness of the German Lager. Every taste is very discernable. Our favourites were the German Lager and surprisingly the Dark Wheat Porter!
Coming to the food, the first thing you’ll notice is that there is ample choice for vegetarians. This is a conscious decision by the owners and a good one. The best starter of the day was in fact a vegetarian one. The cheese – paneer cigars were a total win. So were the stuffed mushrooms. Other popular veg starters are the onion rings and the spicy american corn. Later we tried the chilli cheese toast just on a whim and boy, we did love it!
Among the non veg starters, Bacon wrapped prawn caught our attention first! ‘Cause you know, Bacon! Served with finely chopped gherkin pickles and jalapenos, it was a winner. There was also Creamy Chilli Chicken that was inventive and tasty! The Tawa Lamb and Butter Garlic prawns were not far behind either. The butter-y garlick-y prawns was quite lip smacking.
No pub or brewery is complete without Pizza! The favourites of the day were the Pesto Primavera and the Pepperoni & Jalapeno Pizzas. Deliciously done. From the main course, where they quite a bit to choose from. The Mushroom Lasagna was quite interesting. The traditional choice of Fish & Chips and also the Biryani went down well with the beers.
A special note for the presentation of each dish served. Not only was the service quite prompt, it was nice to see the plating that was done gave it a very good appeal.
Located on the busy and now quite popular CMR Road at Kalyan Nagar, Brewklyn already has a win as far as location is concerned. They have valet parking too. The staff is polite and very hands on and I loved that they had a smile throughout when serving us. They are open to feedback on their dishes given that they change the menu at least once a quarter.
Brewklyn has to be on your must try list to have a good time with some great food and beer. Given their vast and changing menu, we will surely visit again.
